Overview: Edmundite Missions (www.edmunditemissions.org) is a Catholic service organization focused on community development in Selma, Alabama and surrounding small communities. It has been present in Selma for 80 years and is the leading community development organization in this part of Alabama.
Position Summary The Regional Major Gifts Officer (RMGO) will serve as a key member of the Missions team, focusing their outreach and efforts in the Northeast region (NY/CT/NJ/MA). This individual will lead efforts to cultivate and engage major individual donors to sustain and expand efforts to promote the work of the Missions. The RMGO will secure funds for the Missions by managing a group of assigned, qualified donors assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to the organization and are upgraded in their giving and involvement.
The ideal candidate is passionate about the work of the Missions, has superb communication and organization skills, and brings a successful record of major gifts cultivation and stewardship. This position will also provide oversight of the major gift function in the Northeast corridor, allowing the donors to deepen a connection with the Missions on a regular basis. The Edmundite Missions offers competitive salary based on experience, benefits, 401k, paid holidays and vacation. The ideal candidate is based in the Northeast region in order to strengthen relationships with established donors and significantly decrease travel costs and time. This individual will work in a home office environment, but will travel on a quarterly basis to Selma for collaboration. Approximately 50% national travel is expected for this role.
Responsibilities The Alabama based Major Gifts Officer is a full time position reporting to the Director of Development of Edmundite Missions. The primary responsibilities are listed as follows.
1.Prospect Management and Fundraising •Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors at the $1,000 - $1 million+ level, meeting activity metrics and revenue goals. •Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward planned giving prospects. •Research and qualify a pipeline of possible major donors-identifying those individuals with the greatest potential for a major gift. •Build and manage a portfolio of 100-125 qualified major gift donors and prospects. •Prepare written materials such as visit strategies/briefings, correspondence, solicitation/proposal and pledge documents. •Respond to major and planned gift leads. Work proactively in each community to network and expand portfolio.
2.Targeted Research and Goal Development •Proactive prospecting, qualifying relationship building and networking to build the portfolio and strengthen the pipeline of major gift donors and prospects. •Monitor, evaluate, and report on progress and outcomes against agreed upon goals.
3.Strategic Planning •Ensure that each portfolio donor has a clear strategy and appropriate timeline for outreach and stewardship. •Identify targeted prospects for planned giving solicitation.
4.Team Collaboration (program and development) •Integrate fully onto the team – adding strategic value to the overall major gift efforts and planning process. Help to lead a deeper and more expanded major gift program in assigned markets. •Adhere to professionalism and fundraising best practices as demonstrated by moves management industry standards and donor-centered methodology. •Collaborate with Missions leadership and the development team to create strategies to expand the donor pipeline, inspire mid-level donors, and meet annual goals. •Build strong relationships internally across the organization, and proactively ensure access to the information needed to solicit gifts and build donor relationships effectively. •Share donor engagement best practices across the organization, and actively contribute to an internal culture of philanthropy and stewardship.
5.Reporting •Maintain strong and accurate records of activities, including contacts, gifts and pledges, as directed by team protocol, using Razor’s Edge (database); Quarterly reports are reviewed by senior leadership. •Keep up to date files (via planned giving software) on all annuitants, wills and bequests

•Success in personal cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and closing of major gifts at the five-figure and particularly six-figure and above levels. •5-7 years minimum required experience in major gift fundraising, 7+ years preferred. •Experience in working with high net worth donors, volunteer leaders and staff leadership. •Proven ability to analyze data and information to drive strategic development of portfolio – includes the evidenced ability to research donor database and historic giving for major gifts potential. •Self-starter, ability to work independently on complex donor strategies. •Results oriented with ability to focus on and meet deadlines and goals. •High integrity and professionalism, respecting the confidential nature of donor information and the Edmundite Missions’ business practices. •Ability to effectively communicate the mission, goals, and needs of an organization to donors, increasing donor loyalty and engagement. •An understanding of and respect for the Catholic Church, its teachings and traditions •Personal commitment to serve those in need and respect for all individuals irrespective of their personal circumstances. •Bachelor’s level degree required; CFRE or advanced degree a plus. •Must be available for evening and weekend work as required, and able to travel as needed.
