The Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Rockville Centre convened a task force of clergy and lay-faithful in 2011 to study and make recommendations concerning the establishment of a Catholic foundation on Long Island. The Catholic Foundation of Long Island, Inc. (CFLI) was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2016 in order to steward leadership-level charitable giving that will foster the health and vitality of the ministries of the Catholic Church on Long Island. The Foundation has five corporate members. These five members are the Diocesan Bishop, the Vicar General of the Diocese, an individual appointed by the Bishop, the Chair of the Board of Directors, and the Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. The management and control of the operations, affairs, property, and funds of the foundation are vested in the Board of Directors. Currently, the Foundation has seven Directors and the potential to expand to fifteen. The Foundation is now seeking a passionate, committed, talented founding President & Chief Executive Officer with dynamic leadership abilities combined with a genuine passion and dedication for its mission. The President & CEO will report to the Chairman of the Board of Directors and be accountable to the Board of Directors, as well as to the Members. S/he will lead the effort to fundraise, formulate organizational policy, and develop long-term strategy under the guidance of the Board of Directors. The President & CEO in conjunction with the Board of Directors will develop and implement the strategy for sustainability of CFLI in service of its mission and recruit the necessary staff. S/he will be responsible for overseeing CFLI’s day-to-day fundraising, finances, and organizational management activities.
The new President & CEO will have a profound impact on the Foundation: S/he will provide visionary and strategic leadership to build, expand and evolve CFLI’s ability to serve the ministries of the Catholic Church on Long Island.
