On March 31, 2014, Fordham completed Excelsior | Ever Upward | The Campaign for Fordham University raising $540 in the most ambitious and daring fundraising campaign in Fordham’s history. This campaign transformed the University, enriching the lives of its students by increasing endowed chairs and scholarships, expanding academic and programmatic initiatives, and building much-needed facilities. Fordham University seeks a mission-driven Senior Director of Development Arts and Sciences and Professional Schools (the Senior Director). The Senior Director will develop the strategy for the expansion of individual, major gift philanthropy for the School in order to meet the School’s goals and aspirations. While providing fundraising leadership to the School’s development team of five professionals, the Senior Director of Development will identify and maintain a portfolio of top major gift prospects. In addition to successful experience in the planning and implementation of a fundraising plan within a complex higher educational institution, the Senior Director will have extensive experience in the planning and implementation of capital campaigns. The Senior Director will have a solid track record of staff management and of working with top level volunteers, donors, and faculty. He or she will have significant experience in the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gifts from a variety of constituencies. The Senior Director will have the demonstrated ability to coach and motivate staff, maintain best practices, engage participation from all levels, and generate excitement and energy for the mission and programs of the School. The successful candidate will provide inspired strategy and leadership to manage a comprehensive development operation, as well as a commitment to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, excellence, and diversity.
