The Major Gifts Officer (MGO) will serve as a key member of the Missions team, leading efforts to cultivate and engage major individual donors to sustain and expand efforts to promote the work of the Missions, as well as soliciting prospects for planned giving. The MGO will secure funds for the Missions by managing a group of assigned, qualified donors assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to the organization and are upgraded in their giving and involvement. The ideal candidate is passionate about the work of the Missions, has superb communication and organization skills, and brings a successful record of major gifts cultivation and stewardship. This position will also provide oversight of the planned giving function and serve as a liaison with the vendor managing wills, bequests and stock transfers. The Edmundite Missions offers competitive salary based on experience, benefits, 401k, paid holidays and vacation. The preference is the MGO be based in the Northeast (NH, VT, MA, RI, CT, NY, NJ) with a focus on a donor portfolio in the Eastern/Mid-Atlantic region of the country. Approximately 50% national travel is expected for this role.
The successful candidate will be a flexible, experienced professional. He/she will be discrete, high-energy, agile minded, strategic, proactive, a direct communicator, highly-organized and committed to the vision and values of the Edmundite Missions. In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate:•Success in personal cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and closing of major gifts at the five-figure and particularly six-figure and above levels.•5-7 years minimum required experience in major gift fundraising, 7+ years preferred.•Experience in working with high net worth donors, volunteer leaders and staff leadership.•Proven ability to analyze data and information to drive strategic development of portfolio – includes the evidenced ability to research donor database and historic giving for major gifts potential.•Self-starter, ability to work independently on complex donor strategies.•Results oriented with ability to focus on and meet deadlines and goals.•High integrity and professionalism, respecting the confidential nature of donor information and the Edmundite Missions’ business practices. •Ability to effectively communicate the mission, goals, and needs of an organization to donors, increasing donor loyalty and engagement.•An understanding of and respect for the Catholic Church, its teachings and traditions.•Personal commitment to serve those in need and respect for all individuals irrespective of their personal circumstances.•Bachelor’s level degree required; CFRE or advanced degree a plus.•Must be available for evening and weekend work as required, and able to travel as needed.
